THE PEUGEOT 508 - STRONG DESIGN AT THE HEART OF EMOTION
Quality, purity of style, efficiency… the Peugeot 508 embodies the Marque’s new expression in the segment of large touring cars.
The Peugeot 508 combines strong design and emotion with:
- the new-generation of e-HDi and, later, HYbrid4 technologies,
- aerodynamic, prestigious and dynamic good looks,
- high levels of perceived quality and interior comfort,
- class leading driveability, based on the Marque’s longstanding expertise.
The 508 will be available in two body styles: saloon and SW and will go on sale in Europe at the beginning of 2011.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
At the front, the 508 illustrates the Brand's evolving aesthetic codes with a unique grill rendered in a fluid style, and finely-worked headlights with their feline look. On the versions fitted with bi-xenon directional headlamps, LED lighting tubes give the 508 an original visual signature. Similarly, at the rear, three prominent red claws mask three rows of LEDs. The sides of the car are purposefully streamlined, enhanced by the contours of the chrome-edged windows*.

With the 508, customers have the opportunity of using electronic recognition (Hands-free access and start-up) rather than the traditional key. So, with the identifier still in your pocket (or handbag) you can access your vehicle, start it and stop it simply by using the Start/Stop button. The vehicle can be locked again simply be touching the door handle.*Standard with some versions.
Four zone air-conditioning
For optimal individual comfort, each passenger can set the air conditioning to suit their individual requirements.

Seats
The front seats have been developed around 5 requirements: style, comfort, support, durability and clearance from the rear passengers. The backseat is comfortable and welcoming.Onboard sound
The Arkamys software installed in the WIP Sound and WIP Nav 2 delivers a more natural sound environment positioned at windscreen level, with a harmoniously placed sound system opposite the passengers. The 508 also offers a JBL HI-fi kit* with 10 loud-speakers including a central one located in the middle of the dashboard, dramatically improving the distribution of sound inside the passenger compartment.*Standard, optional or unavailable depending on versions.

Adaptive main beam headlamps
The main beam assistance system switches the headlights onto main beam setting as soon as possible for the driver's visual comfort. This option is only available with Xenon headlights.Suspension
Peugeot has always set the standard in terms of road holding and, consequently, driving enjoyment. At the front, two types of suspension are available:- The all-new McPherson-type front axle offers a new, high level synthesis of road holding and ride comfort.
- The 508 GT features a drop link dual wishbone front axle enabling a high level of body rigidity and driving accuracy.
At the rear, the entire range is equipped with a multi-arm rear suspension, designed to ensure excellent efficiency and maximum comfort.
ESP
The 508 is fitted with the latest-generation ESP, which includes DSC (dynamic stability control), EBA (emergency brake assist) and EBD (electronic brake force distribution). It also includes Hill Assist as well as intelligent traction control improving the vehicle's ability to move off and be driven on slippery road surfaces by authorising more or less wheel slip on each of the front wheels.

Air bags
In the event of a collision, 6 airbags provide passengers with a high degree of protection: 2 front airbags, 2 side airbags at the front and 2 curtain airbags front and back.Peugeot Connect SOS
Automatic emergency call: if the air bags or seat belt pretensioners are triggered, the vehicle makes an emergency call automatically without any action by the driver. PEUGEOT CONNECT SOS* then locates the vehicle, establishes telephone communication with its occupants and dispatches the appropriate emergency services. The communication can take place in the language of origin of the owner of the vehicle.
Manual emergency call: whether a motorist is the victim or the witness of a critical situation (illness, attack), he or she can rely on PEUGEOT CONNECT SOS*. To do this, he simply has to press (for 3 seconds) the SOS button located on the fascia panel.
PEUGEOT CONNECT SOS* is currently available in 10 European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria) and will become available in Great Britain, Poland and Denmark in 2011.
* The PEUGEOT CONNECT SOS service is available free of charge on all 508 and 508 SW vehicles fitted with the Peugeot Connect unit subject to acceptance when ordering the vehicle and in accordance with the general conditions of use of the service available at dealerships.

Environmental efficiency was a pivotal concern from the very start of the project via optimisation of aerodynamics (with a Cx from 0.257 and an SCx from 0.580) and weight. The 508 has been fitted with engines offering a power output from 112 to 204hp with CO2 emission ranging from 115 g/km to 164g/km. Each one is particularly well positioned in its category in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, but also in terms of performance and responsiveness.Stop and Start engine
