HOME
Peugeot’s compact saloon car, which has already been awarded three prizes in just one year (the Golden Steering Wheel, a Guinness Record, and Engine of the Year), packs in the best technology and design to offer an intense driving experience in a passenger compartment with a refined character. This outstanding result is also combined with one of the lowest environmental impact levels.The 2007 Golden Steering Wheel award
Since its launch, the Peugeot 308 has been awarded the 2007 Goldene Lenkrad (Golden Steering Wheel) in Berlin for the compact saloon cars category. This prestigious award has been presented since 1976 by the major German weekly Bild am Sonntag.
Upon the completion of in-depth tests and examinations, the judging panel declared that the Peugeot 308 was the model that best fulfilled criteria relating to style, design, comfort, roadhandling, safety, environmental friendliness, quality, etc.
2008 and 2007 Engine of the Year
The 4-cylinder 175 hp Direct Injection Turbo engine confirmed its performance in 2008. For the second year running it was chosen out of 71 competing engines as the "International Engine of the Year" for 2008 in the category for engines with a cubic capacity from 1.4 l to 1.8 l. The reason for this feat is the exacting attention devoted to the development of this engine, which is the result of co-operation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group.
Guinness Record for sobriety
The 308, which is fitted with the 1.6 l HDi 80 kW (≈110 hp) engine with an FAP dust filter, broke the Guinness record for fuel savings with an average consumption of 3.13 l per 100 km and CO2 emissions limited to 85 g/km. It managed to travel 1,919 km running on one full 60-litre tank.
Environmental efficiency was a major concern during the development of the 308. One of the development orientations was the FAP dust filter, and then there are the Michelin Energy Saver tyres, which enable roll resistance to be reduced by 20% and the vehicle’s recyclability level to be increased, which amounts to 99% of the weight of the 308.
DESIGN
In its own way, the Peugeot 308 expresses Peugeot’s characteristic genes, which give all of the Brand’s models their own strong identity.
Grille
Its particularly sharp grille features two intakes with different finishes available within the Peugeot 308 range: one has a classic profile (entry level), while the other is more sporty.
Bonnet nose
The Peugeot 308’s profiled bonnet nose forms the basis for a dynamic, flowing V-shaped linkage with the rest of the bonnet and the windscreen posts.
Rear lines
The Peugeot 308’s rear lines contribute to establishing the vehicle’s visual profile, both through its wrap-around bumper and its curved lights (which emphasise its generous back end), and its wide panoramic rear window.
COMFORT
The Peugeot 308’s semi-high architecture gives priority to ample interior spaciousness. The contoured seats, the numerous clever storage spaces, and the interior lighting improve the appeal of the passenger compartment.
When you are in the Peugeot 308, the light streams in through the glass sunroof*, which extends back as far as the rear seats, and through the panoramic rear window.
* Depending on the version.
Dashboard
The Peugeot 308’s dashboard substantially frees up forward visibility. The quality of its materials and their consistency contribute to the interior acoustic comfort. Their colours match the interior décors of the Peugeot 308’s passenger compartment.
Chrome instrument clusters
The instrument clusters with circular chrome surrounds, the finishing strip around the gearstick and the specific décor of the door brackets emphasise the Peugeot 308’s style.
Glass sunroof
Peugeot is the first manufacturer to fit a saloon car with such a large glass sunroof: 0.83 m²! The panoramic sunroof, featuring athermic glass* that is tinted the same colour as the body of the Peugeot 308, reduces the heat from the sun and offers an incredible amount of visibility and illumination. All the passengers in the Peugeot 308 get a feeling of spaciousness and astonishing illumination, which can be reduced or even blocked off using a power-operated sliding screen with a jamming protection function.
* Depending on the version.
Finishes
The Peugeot 308 shows careful attention to detail. The finishes are particularly well thought out. The stitching on the seats*, which are very elegant, makes a significant contribution to the robustness and reliability which prevail in the Peugeot 308’s passenger compartment.
* Depending on the version.
Storage spaces
There are numerous, clever storage spaces in the Peugeot 308: the rear parcel shelf* features a storage space that can be accessed either from inside the vehicle or from the boot, an air-conditioned glovebox with a capacity of over 10 litres, and an adjustable front central armrest that can hold up to 6 CDs and other objects.
* Depending on the version.
PERFORMANCE
With its low inertia centre and the wide track widths of the front chassis, the Peugeot 308 shows aggressive road performance qualities. They are the fruit of Peugeot’s know-how and experience in the field of roadhandling. The Peugeot 308’s braking performance is among the best on the market, thanks to its large disk brakes.
Roadhandling
The development of the Peugeot 308’s running gear, served by the bodyshell’s outstanding rigidity, has been fine-tuned to provide the best possible combination of roadholding and comfort, and to make the Peugeot 308 a benchmark model in its category.
HPT engine and VTi
In co-operation with the BMW Group, PSA Peugeot Citroën is developing and producing a new family of HPT (High Pressure Turbo) petrol engines ranging from 95 to 150 hp. Fitted with the latest technological advances, these engines have achieved new feats both in terms of performance and driveability, as well as achieving reduced consumption and CO2 emission levels thanks to their turbocompressor and their high-pressure direct injection system. The VTi (Variable valve lift and Timing Injection) technology largely takes onboard the technology featured in the HPT engine and adds a variable lift system for the intake valves which enables the engine’s thermodynamic efficiency to be improved, and consequently its consumption levels too.
6-speed controlled manual gearbox
This six-speed manual gearbox associated with the 1.6 l HDi 110 hp engine with an FAP dust filter available in the Peugeot 308, enables the clutch pedal to be eliminated. It is responsive and will win over gear-change aficionados, who will operate the gearstick either directly or from the steering wheel control paddles. It is smart and will live up to the expectations of people who prefer stress-free driving by changing gears itself, with it being possible for the driver to take over at any time.
Steering
The Peugeot 308’s electro-hydraulic power steering offers the driver maximum driving precision; in particular, this is ensured through use of Pseudo McPherson front axle units and rear axle units with deformable cross-members. Moreover, the wide track widths and the generous tyre fitments (up to 18’’) on the Peugeot 308 contribute to this assembly’s efficiency.

SECURITY
The Peugeot 308 only has one raison d'être: its passengers, which is why it treats protecting both you and your passengers as its duty.
AFIL
AFIL, which is a warning system that informs the driver when a line in the road has unwittingly been crossed, detects any unintentional lane change at speeds of 80 kmph or more and signals to you via a vibration unit fitted into the Peugeot 308’s seat.RT4 data communications equipment
All the audio and multimedia functions in the GPS RT4 MP3* radio telephone can be accessed via a retractable 3D 16/9 colour screen. This system, which features a hard drive, combines a mono CD, radio and MP3 player, a hands-free GSM telephone, a GPS navigation system that covers the whole of Europe, and a local assistance and emergency calls system**.
* Depending on the version.
** Access to these services requires an operating SIM card (with the PIN number entered), inserted in the GPS RT4 MP3 radio telephone.
Airbags
In the event of an impact, a comprehensive device activates to ensure that the passengers in the Peugeot 308 are protected: the system includes shock absorption, front seatbelts with pre-tension explosive activation, and up to 7 airbags throughout the passenger compartment.Braking technologies
The Peugeot 308’s breaking system includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), and emergency braking assistance (EBA). In addition to these three services, there is also ESP (dynamic stability control) which provides wheel spin prevention (ASR) and stability control (ESC).
5-star Euro NCAP rating
The Peugeot 308 received 5 stars in Euro NCAP* tests on the protection of adult passengers in the vehicle, which means that its level is "excellent"; the maximum score possible.* European New Car Assessment Programme, an independent body which assesses vehicle safety.
ENVIRONMENT
The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is a priority issue for Peugeot. Right from its design stage, the Peugeot 308 has integrated the overall factoring in of environmental protection measures. This approach took the form of making use of dedicated technologies, with special attention being devoted to its aerodynamics.
Energy Saver Tyres
These tyres, which were developed exclusively with Michelin for the Peugeot 308 at its launch, feature a new architecture which reduces roll resistance, and consequently the amount of energy required to propel the vehicle, whilst at the same time maintaining its roadholding qualities.Engine types
The PSA Peugeot Citroën Group is based on a policy of innovation both in relation to the engines themselves and the pollution control techniques implemented. PSA Peugeot Citroën engines are very hi-tech, and provide a level of power which fulfils customers’ expectations whilst significantly reducing consumption levels.Recycling
95 % of the weight of a Peugeot 308 that reaches the end of its service life can be recycled. In particular this relates to the metal parts, which now constitute a major source for the supply of raw materials for the steel industry.Aerodynamics
Aerodynamics, weight control and friction reduction play a large part in the environmental performance characteristics of a vehicle by limiting consumption. Out of all the saloon cars, the Peugeot 308, which already has the best air penetration coefficient in its category (Cx), has the lowest front surface forward movement air resistance coefficient (SCx). This performance results in a reduction of consumption, and therefore operational savings and less pollution.FAP
Since the year 2000, HDi technology, which is exclusive to PSA Peugeot Citroën, has been combined with a high-performance pollution control system, the FAP dust filter. This filter eliminates diesel particles once and for all by reducing them to the measurable threshold (0.004 g/km). The FAP is a self-cleaning device which treats the gas from diesel combustion in the engine.DIMENSIONS
