Peugeot 308 SW
HOME
The Peugeot 308 SW has been designed to provide insofar as possible the comfort and user-friendliness expected by its occupants while assuring them of maximum safety. Enjoy the styling and fixtures of its interior space, applaud its intelligent modularity, and savour its comfort.
DESIGN
The Peugeot 308 saloon and SW naturally share a common front end, sharply contoured and expressive. The semi-high architecture and wheelbase 10 cm longer than that of the saloon give a profile successfully combining vigorous shapes and balanced proportions. Finally, all the creativeness of the styling team was deployed to give the rear section of the Peugeot 308 SW all its strength, originality and modernity.
Front end
The strong personality of the front end is accentuated by the single air intake, successfully integrated into a bumper combining styling with functionality. Depending on the version, the front bumper is available in three different configurations: a "conventional" front end having a grille adorned with two chromium-plated strips, another more dynamic model with the grille having an aluminium-coloured hollow treatment, and a third model of more trenchant design reserved for the Peugeot 308 SW powered by the 175 hp 1.6-litre HPT engine.
Exterior lines
The Peugeot 308 SW manages to combine harmoniously an extremely expressive and dynamic front end, shared with the Peugeot 308 saloon, with a rear end of very original contour.
Profile
The sides of the vehicle, very muscular, feature a movement extending to the tail lights, matching the contours of the car's projecting "hips".
Dashboard
The dashboard design, identical to that of the saloon, offers a charm perfectly consistent with the passenger compartment as a whole. Its extremely inclined architecture and its fluid, elegant, high-quality styling enhance the impression of space and general well-being.
COMFORT
Intelligently combining the genetic fingerprint of the 308 saloon and the best of the 307 SW, the interior of the Peugeot 308 SW confirms what is suggested by its body style with its original and dynamic contours: the promise of intense moments on board.
Modularity
Modularity has been very carefully engineered to enable the vehicle to adapt, simply and effectively, to all the life situations of its guests. For example, it offers numerous combinations which allow as many as seven passengers to be taken on board, while the cargo volume can also be adjusted as needed.
Light
The light on board the Peugeot 308 SW is impressive, with a veranda effect providing, day and night, a clear view of the sky – a very pleasant impression of space and infinity given by 5.58 m2 of glass.
Acoustics
A tangible sign of the care taken regarding the noise level is the fact that the third-row passengers can easily converse with the front seat occupants. The design of the interior space and the large glass sunroof facilitate this very pleasantly by carrying the voice without any need to force it.
Seats
Each seat is sliding, tilting, folding into a shelf, raisable, interchangeable, movable in the third row and, finally, extractable to meet exceptionally bulky cargo requirements.
Modular trunk
The luggage compartment is a vast regular-shaped space; its sill with stainless steel trim is located only 548 mm from the ground and gives some of the best value in the competitive market, allowing easy loading of objects up to 3.1 m in length. With the parcel shelf in place, it can have a capacity of up to 674 litres (or 573 dm3 VDA) when the rear seats are in full-forward position.
PERFORMANCE
The objective for the Peugeot 308 SW was to offer an optimum combination of comfort and roadholding ability, corresponding to the dynamism and everyday use of the car. With excellent body rigidity too, the Peugeot 308 SW offers driving impressions worthy of the most efficient saloons.
Handling
The Peugeot 308 SW has electrohydraulic power steering, pseudo McPherson type front suspension and a rear suspension system with deformable cross member. The wide tracks, the various generous tyre fitments (up to 18’’) as well as the lower centre of inertia than on the Peugeot 307 SW also contribute to the efficiency of this unit.
Engine range
The Peugeot 308 SW offers a wide range of high-performance engine and transmission assemblies which are modern, economical and environmentally friendly: five petrol engines from 95 to 175 hp (95 hp 1.4-litre VTi, 120 hp 1.6-litre VTi, 146 hp 2.0-litre BioFlex, 150 hp 1.6-litre HPT, 175 hp 1.6-litre HPT) and three HDi diesel engines (90 hp 1.6-litre HDi, 110 hp 1.6-litre HDi DPFS, 136 hp 2.0-litre HDi DPFS).
Sunroof
The Peugeot 308 SW has one of the biggest sunroofs in the world. With 30 cm extra length (1588 mm), it follows on from the sunroof that originally contributed to the undeniable appeal of the 307 SW.
SAFETY
In addition to primary safety guaranteed by its exemplary roadholding, the Peugeot 308 SW offers a range of equipment such as the lane departure warning system (LDWS) and the swivelling bi-xenon headlights. Regarding secondary safety, the structure has been designed, from the viewpoints of rigidity and crush control, to provide maximum impact absorption.
Buckling indicators
An important innovation is a Wifi type sensor system that can indicate unbuckling/rebuckling of the detachable rear seats in the second row without preventing or limiting their modularity.
Roadholding
Structurally, the Peugeot 308 SW has excellent torsional rigidity which allows optimum operation of its running gear. This, as on the saloon, consists of an inverted pseudo McPherson type front suspension and a rear suspension system with deformable cross member.
ESP
ESP, which is standard or optional depending on the version, adds anti-spin regulation (ASR) and dynamic stability control (DSC) to these functions. It can be disconnected to ensure a certain amount of traction in difficult situations, and is reconnected automatically above 50 km/h.ABS
Standard vehicle features are an ABS system, electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist (EBA). Automatic hazard warning light activation in the event of strong deceleration completes this system.
ENVIRONMENT
The latest-generation engine technologies, combined with the car's streamlining, weight control design and the use of the new Michelin Energy Saver tyres provide the Peugeot 308 SW with improved environmental efficiency by comparison with its predecessor. It thus boasts fuel consumption, for a comparable engine type, of up to 10% less than the Peugeot 307 SW.
1,6-liter HDi Engine
The 1,6l HDi 90 hp engine consumes 4,7l per 100km with a 125g per km CO2 emission (equipped with the Michelin Energy Saver tyres).Particulate filter
Of the three HDi diesel engines proposed on the Peugeot 308 SW, two are fitted with the diesel particulate filter system (DPFS) as standard equipment.Michelin Energy Saver tyres
This high-tech tyre, by optimising rolling resistance by 20%, can reduce the quantity of energy required to move the vehicle, and thus give a reduction in fuel consumption of around 0.2 litres per 100 km, or about 4 g of CO2 per km. This corresponds to about one tonne less of C02 discharged during the life of a vehicle.
