iOn

WELCOME

Long awaited and imagined, this new generation 100% electric vehicle is entirely real. Peugeot is marketing the car not just for a handful of pioneers, but for a modern and demanding clientele, including private individuals and professionals, who are convinced and determined to together make the first step towards a new form of mobility. The Peugeot iOn, 100% electric, urban, agile, connected, comfortable, and easy to drive thanks to the various related services, allows people to experience city life in a new way

A DIFFERENT WAY OF DRIVING

Imagine driving without emitting any CO2, and in absolute silence… Imagine a driving sensation facilitated by a compact and manoeuvrable car, combining dynamism and a high level of comfort and safety. Imagine the ease of simply recharging the battery at home, offering up to 150km range which is perfectly suited to all your journeys in the city and beyond. Imagine making savings by choosing the electric option, with lower running costs than non electric vehicles. You can stop imagining… the iOn, a 100% electric vehicle, has arrived.

Outdoor run

The magic of electricity leads to zero polluting emissions and zero CO2 when driving, external sound levels which are limited to the road and aerodynamic sounds, all of which are ideal qualities for inner city driving. Thanks to its 2.55m wheelbase and high-level bodywork, the car is spacious enough to allow four people to enjoy the drive in total comfort. Its compact size, remarkable turning circle and electric power steering make it highly agile. Though small, it demands road presence and respect among other traffic thanks to its character and sprightly handling.

CO2 impact

In an era of increasing environmental concern, Peugeot is once again showing its ability to shape and adapt its mobility products in relation to need. In recognition of its zero CO2 production when running, the Peugeot iOn was awarded the Grand Prix Auto Environment 2010 – a prize offered by MAAF Assurances for vehicles and technologies implemented to protect the environment.

Economy

With running costs of between €1.50 and €2 per 100 km, the energy costs for the iOn are less than those for a vehicle with a thermal-combustion engine, regardless of the refuelling method used. Performed overnight or during "off peak hours", the costs of recharging can be minimised and the use of existing generation capacity made available by electricity producers can be optimised.

100% REAL

With its standard equipment, the iOn has all the characteristics in terms of safety, comfort and facilities of a genuine modern city car.

Safety

With its high rider design, all of the battery components can be accommodated under the floor pan between the two axles, which contributes to the excellent dynamic stability. This stability is reinforced by its standard equipment: ESP, electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency braking support. Moreover, efficient braking is supported by the combination of an electric motor brake which permits recycling of significant amounts of energy and a standard hydraulic brake, producing an overall sensation comparable to that of a vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine. Finally, with its structural design and safety equipment, the iOn has all the features expected of a modern car: two front airbags, two chest airbags, two side airbags, two Isofix anchors, a fasten seat belt warning for the front seats and seat belt unfastened warning for the back seats.

Driving

Its top speed of 130 km/h and its acceleration (30km/h to 60 km/h in 3.5 secs) speak of a car that is at home on any kind of road. Its maximum engine power is 47 kW and the engine torque is 180 Nm.

Equipment

Well equipped as standard, all iOns have alloy wheels, power steering, foglights, automatic headlights, daytime lamps, central locking of doors with remote control, on-board computer, air-conditioning, MP3- and Bluetooth-compatible car radio/CD, front and rear window lifters, height-adjustable driver's seat, inclinable and pull-down rear seat backs. With a single equipment standard and two internal environments, the Ion range is simple, uncomplicated and complete. The three main options or accessories are a cold weather kit (heated external mirrors, heated driver's seat, snow skirt), a set for converting the car into a commercial two-seater and a mobile/networked navigation mounted in the dashboard enabling traffic reports and map updates indicating recharging points to be received and point of interest information (restaurants, hotels, etc.) to be looked up.

Battery operation

The iOn is equipped with a lithium-ion battery whose energy storage capacity is much higher than that of the old Ni Cd batteries used in the 1990s. Furthermore, the battery does not suffer from a memory effect. It can even be partially recharged without any need to regularly perform complete recharges.

URBAN AND MORE

The iOn perfectly designed for the city and its outskirts, offers a remarkable "interior space/external dimensions" ratio, excellent maneouvrability and with its numerous features, a high level of comfort.

Spaciousness and interior volume

The generous interior space is surprising in view of the Peugeot iOn's overall size. It has been designed to provide a feeling of well-being and spaciousness on board. In its 3.48 m length, the Peugeot iOn offers four full-size seats for adults with the option of stacking the seats to save space. The boot has a volume of 1.1 m3. The utility vehicle kit (comprising a mat covered floor, at the front of which a sheet metal load restrainer is fixed and with an optional luggage cover on top) provides useful space of around 1.1 m3 for a payload of 330 kg including the driver.

Dimensions

Its compactness - length of 3.48 m and width of 1.47 m-, astonishingly tight turning circle and electric power steering make it supremely manoeuvrable.

Recharging

The battery can be fully charged in 6 hours from a single-current 220V domestic power supply using a 5-metre secure cable, fitted with a standard plug. Rapid recharge is available using a special power supply which provides high intensity power, and will charge to 50% capacity in 15 minutes and 80% capacity in just 30 minutes.

100% CONNECTED

Apart from state-of-the-art electrical technology, the iOn is equipped with telematic technology to provide the complete range of Peugeot Connect services.
