Peugeot starts sales of the Peugeot 408 in Malaysia
Three years after the signature in Paris of an agreement with the NAZA Group to develop its activities in Malaysia and in the ASEAN countries, Peugeot picks up speed by starting sales of the Peugeot 408 in the Malaysian market.

This is how the Peugeot 408, assembled at the Gurun plant, has reached the showrooms of Peugeot's 23 dealerships in Malaysia and the first 300 orders have just been taken.

The Peugeot 408 will be offered to Malaysian customers in two versions: the 408 Turbo and the 408 2.0 litre. The 408 Turbo is fitted with a 1.6 litre direct injection petrol engine with a variable geometry turbocharger, developing 163 hp and a maximum torque of 240 Nm, making the 408 the most powerful car in its segment in Malaysia. It also has a six-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox.

"The new 408 is an ideal car for families and for business users looking for space, comfort, performance and elegance" declared SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, President of the NAZA Group on the occasion of the presentation of the vehicle to the Malaysian press.

Peugeot finds reassurance in its ambitions for the ASEAN countries with the production and sale of the Peugeot 408 in Malaysia, which takes its place in the segment which accounts for 25% of the national market and 20% in the zone as a whole.

In total, Peugeot and its partner NAZA forecast the production and sale of 40,000 Peugeot 408 vehicles in the ASEAN countries over a period of five years.

The Peugeot 408 is now added to the extensive Peugeot range for Malaysia, including the 207
Sedan, the 408, the 3008, the 308, the 308 CC, the 5008, the 508 and the RCZ.
