PEUGEOT / ROLAND-GARROS : 30 YEARS !

It was in 1984 that PEUGEOT arrived at VIP Village, a year that would mark the start of a partnership between the brand and the French Tennis Federation which now celebrates its 30th anniversary.

From the start of the 2014 Roland-Garros French Open, which takes place between 25 May and 8 June, PEUGEOT, partner and official transporter, will be fielding a fleet of more than 200 vehicles for the movements of players, VIPs and the public throughout the fortnight.

And this year, it is the turn of the PEUGEOT 208 to dress for the clay courts, a new arrival to the range of Roland-Garros special editions.

Every year since 1984, when the Lion arrived at the Village, PEUGEOT and Roland-Garros have renewed their confidence in each other. Very quickly, to expand the dimension of this partnership, PEUGEOT benefited from visibility in the grounds, thanks to the signage on the courts clearly showing to all the brand’s privileged position as a partner to the tournament.

The brand is also present in the main pathway, where it is presenting part of the range of Roland- Garros special editions, with this year, the PEUGEOT 208 Roland-Garros, AE21 Roland-Garros electric bicycle and the Metropolis Roland-Garros 3-wheel scooter.

PEUGEOT Roland-Garros special editions

It was in 1989 that PEUGEOT introduced its first two Roland-Garros trimmed vehicles with the 205 and the 405 estate. Over the 25 years, all of the special editions have been specially developed in partnership with Roland-Garros, and the models and body styles chosen have been those that most closely match the image of tennis and in particular the image of the Roland-Garros Open.

In 2014, the PEUGEOT 208 and the PEUGEOT 308 CC, two models produced in Europe and sold in several countries round the world will be available as special editions reflecting this partnership. Since 2012, Roland-Garros special editions have also been produced and sold in China. This year the PEUGEOT 508 sedan and the PEUGEOT 3008 will be honoured.

In Latin America, for the second year in a row, it is the PEUGEOT 308 Roland-Garros hatchback that will be produced locally and marketed for the occasion.

The service is provided this year by a range of PEUGEOT vehicles: 3008 HYbrid4, 508 RXH, 2008, 5008, iOn, RCZ, 308 and 308 SW, the new 208 Roland-Garros special edition, as well as Expert Tepee allocated to shuttle transit.

The brand, anxious to protect the environment, has decided to make available vehicle with engines that are particularly efficient in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, since 2008, training in eco-driving has been organised by PEUGEOT for the drivers of the fleet.

On the way for new sensations!

The “Road to Roland-Garros” programme with nearly 111 million viewers in 2013, produced now for 6 years, carries the biggest international players in a PEUGEOT from their hotel to the grounds at the Porte d’Auteuil. A good opportunity to get to know the sportsmen and women in another light, through some offbeat questions in the company of the actor Guillaume Dolmans. Even though the concept is now well known, this year the operation is given a musical twist. How will Novak Djokovic or David Ferrer react in a 508 RXH to the surprise visit of Adrien Villanova, the celebrated Parisian DJ?
