First award for the PEUGEOT 2008 in Italy
Following the 208, awarded in 2012 and the 3008 Crossover in 2009, the PEUGEOT 2008 carries off the prestigious 2014 AUTO EUROPA award, given by the Italian association of motoring journalists.
In the 2008, the jury particularly liked the exterior and interior design, the on board technology, the ability to go off the beaten track thanks to the Grip Control system and its improved fuel consumption.
The PEUGEOT 2008 is a compact, agile and multi-role crossover, with innovative instruments and controls, refined styling and a strong personality which embodies the brand’s expertise in city cars and its now recognised know-how in the world of crossovers.
Matching the dynamism suggested by its sleek lines, 2008 has engines of the latest generation under its bonnet, engines with particularly reduced fuel consumption : with its e-HDi diesel and 3-cylinder petrol engines, the PEUGEOT urban crossover stands out with its CO2 emissions, starting at 98 g/km CO2.
Success has been achieved both quantitative and qualitative. Produced initially in Mulhouse, where capacity has been progressively increased to 620 vehicles per day to meet the high demand, production and sales of the PEUGEOT 2008 will start in China in 2014 and then in Brazil in 2015.

The jury, made up of 28 professional motoring journalists, made their choice in each category based on a wide range of criteria, including innovation, safety, comfort and dynamic qualities, spaciousness and build quality.

5 stars in the Euro NCAP tests and a new power unit 1.2 e-VTi 82 ETG5
The tests carried out by the independent Euro NCAP organisation give assurance of 2008’s high safety levels. The equipment fitted as standard is a perfect illustration of this: cruise control – speed limiter, ESP, disc brakes on all four wheels, six airbags (two frontal, two lateral, two curtain), three-anchorage Isofix mountings.
2008 also benefits from Peugeot’s leadership in tertiary safety, with the Peugeot Connect SOS and Peugeot Connect Assistance services. In the event of an incident, the geo-location of the vehicle is determined and emergency or roadside assistance procedures implemented.
Moreover, the Peugeot i-Cockpit places the driver in the ideal position. Becoming one with their car, access to all controls is intuitive. The Peugeot i-Cockpit comprises a small multi-function steering wheel, adjustable for height and reach, a head-up instrument panel and a semi-floating 7’’ touch screen.
To win new customers, the 2008 range now offers a 1.2 e-VTi 82 ETG5 version. The CO2 emissions are reduced to just 99g/km. The 3-cylinder petrol engine has Stop&Start which reduces fuel consumption by up to 15% in urban driving. It is coupled to the 5-speed electronically controlled ETG (Efficient Tronic Gearbox). Its creep function, particularly useful for low-speed manoeuvres, allows the vehicle to move at idle without touching the accelerator pedal.
