Roll bars on the 207CC: discreet but active …

To profit fully from the cabriolet body style, a system for occupant protection in the event of rollover is included as standard safety equipment on the 207 CC.

It consists of active roll bars and windscreen pillar stiffener tubes.
Located just downstream of the rear seats, the two small chromium-plated arches contribute to the dynamic styling of the 207 CC, but also play a discreet role as bodyguards.
When a critical situation is detected by the electronic control unit which analyses the information from the angle sensor and the speed of rotation, in less than 25 ms the ECU gives the order to the pyrotechnic system to release the springs holding the roll bars in position. The latter are then deployed in 175 ms over a height of 200 mm.
As regards the windscreen pillar tubes, they are firmly anchored in the A-pillar reinforcements.
Note that the pyrotechnic system for the front seat belts is activated simultaneously with the active roll bars.
