ABS, ESC and Brake Assist System

The demand for exemplary road holding is the basis of primary safety on Peugeot vehicles, and for the 308 in particular. In addition, the 308 has as standard equipment:
- An ABS system (anti-lock braking system): During emergency braking, the ABS system prevents any risk of wheel locking and thus helps you better control any loss of grip.
- An Electronic Brake force Distribution system (EBD): The Electronic Brake force Distribution system optimises the vehicle's stopping distance by distributing the brake pressure over the four wheels, depending on the vehicle's grip and the load.
- A Brake Assist System (BAS): The Brake Assist System (BAS) provides, in the event of sharp braking, extra assistance which amplifies the braking pressure and reduces the stopping distance to a minimum.
- ESC (Electronic Stability Control): A standard or optional feature depending on the version, ESC ensures control of the vehicle's stability within the limits of the laws of physics.
It also provides:
- Anti-Spin Regulation (ASR): Anti-Spin Regulation acts on the brakes and the engine control system to limit wheel spin in the event of loss of grip;
- Dynamic Stability Control (DSC): this system constantly compares the information transmitted by the steering wheel sensor and the yaw sensor so as to detect any incipient understeering or oversteering. In such cases, within the limits of the laws of physics, it places your vehicle back on its initial trajectory.
ESC can be disconnected, to ensure a certain amount of traction in difficult situations, and is reconnected automatically above 50 km/h (except on certain models, such as the 207 RC, in order to meet the needs of experienced customers).
- Automatic hazard warning light activation in the event of strong deceleration completes this system.
