Retromobile 2008

The Peugeot Adventure, Association dedicated to preserving and promoting the historical heritage of the marque is present as each year at Retromobile. With support from its federated French clubs, in 2008 it is showing 21 vehicles with histories extending over 90 years. From its museum at Sochaux, 5 original cars testify to the expertise of the marque in luxury vehicles of their times (1893–1928). From the Victoria of 1893, highly-esteemed by the aristocracy at the end of the 19th century, to the unique landaulet of the «roaring twenties» styled by Labourdette, a chapter of the long history of Peugeot is recalled. These models are accompanied by a double phaeton of 1906, a sports «runabout» of 1910 and a luxury limousine of 1922 with coachwork by Chapron. Two lady’s bicycles of 1899 and 1906 complete the display. Among vehicles in the area offered by the Peugeot Adventure to its clubs, visitors can admire a 301CR roadster, a 402 Darl’mat cabriolet, a rare 203 Worblaufl en cabriolet and a 604 fi tted out by Chapron. The CAAPY shows a Talbot Lago cabriolet of 1939. Armand PEUGEOT, pioneer of the automobile, would have greatly appreciated this salon on the theme «Women and the Automobile». In fact, before
production of his fi rst vehicle in 1889, he carefully considered the comfort and safety of women on board this new mode of transport.
